Internet Accounts

In order to take this class, you must have access to the Internet and an e-mail address. You have three options
From School: By the end of September, direct Internet access should be available from Thomasville High School. You should be able to use the Internet workstations after school. You will need to coordinate with your teachers for use during the regular school day.
From the Public Library: At least three workstations at Thomas County Public Library can provide dial-up Internet access. You will need to make arrangements with the Library staff to use these computers.
From Home: If you want to use your computer at home, you will need to obtain a dial-up subscription account from an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Locally, RoseNet is available through the City of Thomasville's Utilities Department. You can pick up a start-up kit at the Administrative Office on Jackson Street. If you use a different Internet Service Provider, just make sure that you that you can access RoseNet with no problems. The screen and some features may look a little bit different from RoseNet, but the basic functions are the same.
Generally, when you subscribe to an ISP, you automatically get an e-mail account. So, if you plan to take this class from home, you should be all set once you establish an Internet account. If you plan to take this class from school or the public library, you need to contact me so we can get you an e-mail account.
In the best of all possible worlds, you will have no trouble configuring your dial-up Internet connection. OK...if you are through laughing, there is help available! A good ISP will offer phone assistance from a Technical Support staff. I don't get paid to say this, but I have found the technical support provided by RoseNet to be outstanding. They deal with lots of problems and can usually help you get your system running. Any good ISP will do the same.
