"Hitler Diaries" - Item #2118

Although the "Hitler Diaries" of Gerd Heidemann and Stern magazine were fakes, there was a transport plane-load of important personal papers of Hitler lost in the final days of the war. The following Typescript Signed was extracted from the book of Hitler's personal pilot, Hans Baur, and translated into English. The book, Mit Machtigen Zwischen Himmel and Erde was published in 1971. Earlier versions were printed in 1958. That description of the flight led to the forgeries by Konrad Kujau and their purchase and publication by Gerd Heidemann. Typescript Signed by Hans Baur as Chief Pilot of the Fuhrer, 1p, 4to, in English, describing the incident with the plane, its contents, its loss, and Hitler's violent reaction to the loss of his personal papers. An early supporter of Adolf Hitler's, head of the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler Regiment and later the Commander of the Sixth SS Panzer of WWII. DS, 2pp (1leaf), 4to, Feb. 18, 1943, in the field, in German, giving the military record of SS-Obersturmfuhrer Ludwig Ruckdeschel in the LS-SS Adolf Hitler. Boldly signed "Dietrich" with the rubber stamped seal of the LS-SS A.H. beside his signature. Two file holes in left margin. Fine. Price: $444.00

DS, "HH", 1p, 4to, no date, although complete in itself, the document accompanied a promotion package of SS-Sturmbannfuhrer Walter Barnert, who entered the SS in 1932, last promotion April 20, 1939, serving in the SS Division "Reich", gives summary of war record. Below, Himmler has written a 5-word question and signed with initials, all in green pencil. Two files in left blank margin. Rubber stamp docket of the Personal Staff of the Reichfuhrer-SS. He was hanged after being brought to trial for war crimes. DS, 1p, 4to, 10. Jan. 41., Berlin, in German, concerning an agreement of marriage to the widow Frau Weitzel. The document has been stamped with the rubber stamped docket of SS-Personalhauplamt, 14 Jan. 1941. Boldly signed. Two minute rust stains and two holes from staples in top corner. Very good.
