• Kansas Senate Prayer stirs protest and praises (November 1998): When minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the  Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but what they heard instead was a  stirring prayer, passionately  calling our  country to repentance and righteousness. The response was immediate.  A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest.  In six short weeks, the Central Christian  Church had logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.  The church is now receiving international requests  for copies of the prayer from India, Africa and Korea. Commentator PAUL HARVEY aired the prayer on The Rest of the Story on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired !! 
  
  THE  PRAYER:
  Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance.   We know Your Word says, "Woe on those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done.  We  have  lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. 
  We confess  that:  * We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism. * We have worshipped other gods and called it multi-culturalism. * We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle. * We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. * We have neglected the needy and called it self-reservation. * We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. * We have killed our unborn children and called it a choice. * We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. * We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem. * We have abused power and called it political savvy. * We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. * We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called  it freedom of expression. * We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.  Guide and bless these men and women who have  been  sent  to direct us to the center of Your will. I ask it in the name of Your Son,  the living Savior, Jesus Christ.  Amen.

The New Dollar Coin, here we go again!!

The Susan B. Anthony dollar coin has been deemed a failure and yet on December 1, 1997, President Clinton signed legislation calling for a new $1.00 coin to be in place by the year 2000. Public opinion polls prefer $1 dollar notes to $1.00 coins, by roughly 4 to 1. Where's the will of the people argument here?

What's the deal with Homeschooling kids?

Home schooling is rapidly becoming a major force in American society and has become a significant embarrassment to the public school establishment. Hundreds of thousands of American families have chosen to educate their children at home. Here's why.

1. The social and religious environment in most schools

The social and religious environment in most schools in America has deteriorated to a level of evil such that it is a threat to the spiritual, moral, and mental health of each child who is forced to participate in it.

2. The level of political and secular humanist indoctrination

The level of political and secular humanist indoctrination in American public schools has risen so high that it is very difficult for any child attending public school to emerge with an understanding of historical and religious truth.

3. Irrationalism has become the norm throughout American schools

Irrationalism has become the norm throughout American schools. It is therefore very difficult for children who attend those schools to learn how to think rather than to simply believe whatever propaganda is being disseminated at the moment.

4. The academic quality of most schools has deteriorated

The academic quality of most schools has deteriorated to the point that American students are literally the world's largest group of dunces. In test after test of academic abilities, American students score last in comparison with students from the other twenty or so advanced countries.

It is, of course, possible for a child to emerge from an American public school with good academic training and a good spiritual and moral outlook. With increasingly rare exceptions, however, students who achieve this do so in spite of the school rather than because of the school. The over all performance of American children who attend public schools is very poor.

Even when American public schools of the past are used as a standard, current schools are an embarrassment. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores have deteriorated so much during recent decades that the tests themselves are now on the verge of being changed. The American educational establishment is determined to change these tests, so that continued comparisons with past performance will not be possible.

Even the SAT tests themselves are being used as tools for social engineering. "Politically Correct" questions are being asked about "socially responsible" reading passages. In some cases the student must give an answer that he knows to be false or misguided in order to please the social engineers who designed the tests.

Why yes! Thank you for . . .

• introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinski and about two dozen other names that we might not have met and known otherwise.
  
• allowing a war hero and the author of one of the most successful military campaigns in military history to leave the presidency. Because, no matter how successful he was, we, in all our moral outrage, just wouldn’t tolerate someone who would lie to the American people by promising "no new taxes" and then going back on his word. We certainly can’t have a liar in the White House, now can we?
  
• showing all the men and women in America that sexual harassment in the work place, and on the job, is okay as long as it involves powerful middle-age executives and the young women half their age under their power. It is, after all, a "private matter."
  
• revealing that the agenda of the National Organization of Women only includes some women. Women like Anita Hill, and not women like Paula Jones, Monica Lewinski, et. al.
  
• allowing us to come to the realization that "sexual relations" is not clearly defined after all. And all these years, I thought that "oral sex" really had something to do with sex! (Imagine!) (Or is it Oral Sex when you talk about it . . .?)
