1854 Wright House
History
The 1854 Wright House is a lovingly restored antebellum home listed on the National Register. This one story cottage
was built in 1854 for one of Thomasville's most prominent citizens, Arthur P. Wright.. Mr. Wright established the first bank in Thomasville and was mayor during the civil war. Descendants of Mr.
Wright lived in the home until 1968. The present owners purchased the house in 1991 and have been rehabilitating since that time. The Wright House is located on it's original site and has a centuries old Live Oak tree, a towering Southern Magnolia, numerous
mature Camellias, and rare Orange Tea Olive shrubs as well as a variety of other southern plant life on a casually landscaped one and a half acres. The view from our many
windows is green and private enhancing a sense of serenity and comfort.
